Leigh Dundas

In this time of unprecedented encroachment into our civil liberties, renowned human rights attorney Leigh Dundas - and her nonprofit organization Advocates for Citizens' Rights - are moving swiftly to address issues involving mandatory mask-wearing and social distancing, as well as quarantine and contact tracing measures.   Leigh Dundas began her career in the early 90s, representing Fortune 500 companies in multimillion-dollar legal battles in the courtroom - before transitioning over the last decade to working with nonprofits dedicated to combating the child sex slavery epidemic in Southeast Asia.

In March of this year, she took the lessons she learned battling industry behemoths in White collar courtrooms - and fighting Mafia syndicates in the trenches of third world countries - and began using them to turn the tide on the human rights atrocities our governments have been deploying on a peaceful population... under the guise of a pandemic that is no more fatal than the average flu.

Please join me in welcoming Freedom fighter Leigh Dundas to the stage
.
Reminder!  It's our annual Camp Pendleton Turkey Dinner drive for the DeLuz community families!

Held October 14, 2020 at San Juan Hills Golf Club

San Clemente Area Republican Women Federated held their General Meeting at San Juan Hills Golf Club on October 14th and invited the following  candidates  to address the members as to their vision, position and provided time for questions.

Gene James, who is running for re-election for San Clemente City Council supports our Law Enforcement, is a Taxpayer Watchdog who continues to ensure our tax dollars are spent wisely. Gene is pro-business and encouraged city management to develop an anti-human trafficking ordinance. He voted against a forced Regional Homeless Shelter and against Short Term Rentals outside approved zones.

Fight hard for increased Public Safety, a regional approach to homelessness, no Toll Road, bringing back a local hospital and the removal of San Onofre nuclear waste.

Aaron T. Washington, candidate for City Council, is a 35 year Navy veteran. He has dedicated his life to serving his country in both Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Giving to his community, working with both Boys Town of America and local Homeless Shelters, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of the San Clemente Men’s Golf Club. He stated that he is dedicated to changing the mindset and leadership that has led our city to run deficits and triple its legal bills to over $10.5 million in just 5 years.

Tyler Boden, candidate City Council, Short Term stated that he would work to unite San Clemente over a shared vision to create a more efficient and community-driven city government. He want to protect our children’s future, our coastline and the quality of life for all our residents.

MEET THE CANDIDATES!
Please join us for a forum of local candidates for various elected positions in government—local, state, and federal-- such as city council, U.S. House of Representatives, and CA State Assembly.

Here are the candidates that spoke at our meeting:

45th Congressional District
Peggy Huang stated that our colleges are promoting a “low socialistic” society. She has lived under a socialist dictator, so knows how horrible that can be.  She stated that she is aware of our domestic issues that we need to work on,
such as domestic violence, human trafficking, child abuse, and immigration reform.

Don Sedgwick stated that he is a protector of our constitution. He believes that the role of government is to keep America safe.  Therefore, we need to secure the border and uphold our existing laws.  And we need to reduce regulations which are crushing businesses. We are not a land of socialism. He has been in office for 23 years.

Greg Raths has been a Marine Corporal Fighter Pilot. He was active in the military for 30 years. He also worked in the White House for 3 years.  He stated his number 1 issue is national security, thus border security is paramount. He gave a big thank you to we fellow Republicans for helping to
promote a free and just society.

Rhonda Furin is a professional educator. She has taught at many grade levels and in the GATE program.  She thinks we are not giving our gifted students the high quality education that they need. She also feels that our STEM programs are inadequate and is disheartened that art and
music programs have been eliminated in many of our schools.  She feels that a better educated population would go far in solving many of our current issues.

49th Congressional District
Brian Maryott has been a financial planner in California for
25 years.  He is concerned most with 3 main issues;  healthcare, tax and economic policies, and immigration.  He is a firm believer that private enterprise is what makes our country strong. He would like for there to be no taxes on SS benefits.  His office is in San Juan Capistrano.

73rd Assembly District:
Laurie Davies graduated from CSU Long Beach. She is a small business owner.  In 2018 she was elected mayor of Laguna Niguel. She is working to keep taxes low by protecting Prop 13, and working on public safety by working against the early release of felons from prisons and working
against allowing sanctuary cities.

Ed Sachs says his number 1 issue is homelessness, and San Clemente has the 2nd highest number homeless population in Orange County.  He is troubled with the new law that allows theft up to $950 with no penalties. He served in Vietnam for 3 years. He stated that war is truly horrific. He stated that he would like to speak to the Review Board and Cal Trans concerning NO on the proposed  toll road.

Craig Van Doren
Chairman and Co-Founder of Honor Flight Southland

Craig Van Doren, born in Inglewood, California in 1951, is a 4th generation Californian.  Both of his parents, George and Betty, met and served in the Navy during World War II.  Getting married after the war, they settled in Los Angeles to raise Craig and his brother, Kirk, who served in the Air Force during the Vietnam era.

Honor Flight Southland’s mission is to safely transport  American Veterans,
at no cost to them, to Washington, D.C. to be honored at the memorials built in their honor.

During 2013, Craig became associated with the San Diego Honor Flight hub.
He had the privilege and honor to act as Guardian for three different WWII veterans on trips back to Washington, D.C.  After prompting from both the National Honor Flight Network Chairman and the San Diego Honor Flight Chairman, Craig, along with two other experienced Honor Flight Travelers, decided to officially launch Honor Flight Southland in April, 2014, representing Los Angeles, San Bernardino and Orange Counties.  Realizing these counties had been under-represented for so long, they have been energetically working to raise funds, establish lists of veterans and provide those veterans with the Tour of Honor they deserve.

Since their initial flight in 2015, Craig and his co-founders have taken 371 of our most senior veterans, at no cost to them, on “missions” to D.C. to be honored at the memorials built in their honor.  Time is of the essence!

This month’s meeting is our Annual Veterans Day Celebration as we honor the memory of those who served
our great nation and offer a heartfelt thank you to those who have served or are currently serving
to protect our priceless freedom.
You are encouraged to invite a veteran or an active duty serviceman or woman to receive personal recognition and then purchase their luncheon as an additional treat!

Shari Freidenrich
Orange County Treasurer

Shari Freidenrich is the first woman ever to be elected as the Orange County treasurer.  She
is responsible for overseeing a $9 billion investment portfolio as a fiduciary and banker for both the County and School and Community District funds.  She is responsible for collecting all property taxes in Orange County.

Shari is an ex-officio member of the nine-member Orange County Pension Board that manages the $13 billion Orange County employee’s pension plan as well as a member of the Audit Oversight, Deferred Compensation and Public Financing Advisory Committees.

Shari currently has four other state and national certifications designating her expertise in the field of public finance and funds management.  Because of her expertise and focus Shari has saved the taxpayers of Orange County over $831 million.  She has also increased transparency so that taxpayers understand where their dollars are going, including Mello-Roos payments.  But most importantly to OCTax, Shari actually refunded millions of dollars to investment pool participants that have been overcharged prior to her taking office.

Election Integrity Project California, Inc. (EIPCa)

Since retiring from 34 years as a high school educator and mentor teacher, Ruth has made it a priority to serve her community, county, state and nation as the Lord has given her guidance and opportunity. She is a fervent constitutional patriot, and believes that an expression of the voice of the people through fair and honest elections is the cornerstone of keeping the American Republic or any republic. Becoming convinced that Californians are incrementally losing that right through corruption and manipulation of the electoral process, Ruth has worked full time as a volunteer with The Election Integrity Project (now Election Integrity Project California, of which she is a founding member) since early 2011.

Ruth is grateful to her husband David for his support and assistance in this mission, and proud of her two grown and very accomplished sons, Aaron and Andy. Her life and work are first and foremost dedicated to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are possible.

Fred is a resident of Orange, and has been actively involved in Orange civic life as both a businessman and community leader.  Fred is an experienced businessman with deep roots in the economic life of our county.  For nearly a decade, he was a senior executive at SC Fuels, a major Orange-based business.

Fred has been elected seven times by the residents of Orange to the Republican Central Committee from the 60th and 68th Assembly Districts. He is the Managing Partner at the law firm Cummins & White, LLP, a Newport Beach based firm where he specializes in corporate counsel, business transactions, real estate and estate planning.

In 2010, Fred was elected to the Orange City Council as the top vote recipient out of eight candidates.  In 2014, Fred was reelected to a four year term, and has served as Mayor Pro Tem for the City of Orange.

Fred’s presentation will include an astute analysis of the November 6, 2018 Mid-term Election—from the nationwide effect of suburban voters, to the losses in California, which he terms “catastrophic,” to the effects of ballot harvesting.  You’ll want to hear his conclusions.
