President's Message June 2018
May 2018 was an especially historic month for our country and the world.
President Trump made the decision to pull out of the Iran Nuclear Deal formally called JCPOA. This was an agreement that was made without the approval of Congress and was a very bad deal. We all witnessed the opening of the Israeli Embassy in the capitol of Jerusalem. What an historic occasion that I was privileged to personally be a part as a member of a geopolitical tour with United West, a group of 100% pro-America, pro-Israel activists and Judge Jeanine Pirro!
We were indeed right in the middle of the action and I plan to de-brief all of you at our June meeting and tell you the complete, unfiltered story of this trip!
Now our SCARWF members were very busy participating in our community politics and outreach to the military. Our members and guests had another opportunity at our May General meeting to hear candidates who are running in the June Primary speak and reply to our questions. The compelling speaker, author Lydie Denier recounted Ambassador Christopher Steven’s Benghazi terrorist holocaust and gave us a chance to purchase her book and have it signed.
Many of us attended the Grand Opening of the San Clemente Outlet Mall OCGOP Republican Headquarters and did a precinct walk in San Clemente. Our members are encouraged to come to the outlet mall location to work the phone bank in these last crucial weeks before the June 5th Primary! Our dedicated SCARWF members also held the Military Baby Shower in May at Camp Pendleton’s De Luz Family Community house for 25 expectant wives.
Memorial Day in San Clemente means a remembrance ceremony at Park Semper Fi I know that many SCARWF members make a point be on hand to recall the sacrifices made by so many who deserve our sincere thanks! And if you are home on May 28th plan on watching the Memorial Day Parade in Washington DC to honor our military!
At the June 13th General Meeting we will be celebrating the achievement of eight outstanding South Orange County graduating high school seniors when we present them with monetary Scholarship Awards from SCARWF to help them pursue a higher education.
Please plan to be there as each winner speak to us about why they are Republicans.
Then in keeping with the desire to keep Republican values and spirit alive, we also will have Paula Prizio and several Young Republicans share ideas with our about to be freshman college students on how they can join in
with like-minded conservatives on campus. This is something you can share with the young people in your family too!
Flag Day is June 14th and I know I will be flying the flag at my home and urge you to honor our country by doing the same!
Please consider attending the OCGOP Flag Day Dinner on Saturday, June 16th at the Irvine Hotel, go to OCGOP.org for more information.
Just because we don’t have a General Meeting in July and August, doesn’t mean that SCARWF disappears for the summer!
Our Voter registration efforts will continue one Saturday a month at the Mission Viejo Mall and one Sunday a month on Del Mar Street, so please contact our Chairman Kathryn Crouch to volunteer to help.
And look out for an email announcing a SCAWRF Member & Friend’s Summer Fun Game Night and share a snack or glass of wine!
I wish you all an enjoyable summer!
Mollie Lazarus, President
